Your information

Privacy policy.

A Gut Feeling is Aleisha Smith’s nutrition practice in New Zealand. Aleisha is your contact for questions about your personal information.

What we collect

When you register your interest or book, we collect the contact details you provide, your area of nutrition support and, for appointments, your appointment type, format, time and any short reason you include.

The new client questionnaire collects your contact details and information about your health history, medications, supplements, blood tests, food, daily life, movement and goals. Blood test uploads, height and weight are optional. Share only information relevant to your care and that you are authorised to provide.

Payments create a record of the service purchased, customer details, amount, currency and payment status. Reviews collect your submitted name, rating and comments. Technical information may be used for security, error diagnosis and preventing repeated or abusive submissions.

Why we use your information

Your information is used to respond to enquiries, manage interest registrations, provide and personalise nutrition care, process payments, arrange appointments and maintain practice records. Submitting an interest registration does not sign you up to unrelated marketing.

You can choose not to provide information. Some contact details are needed to process a request, payment or booking; missing relevant health information may limit the advice Aleisha can safely provide.

Health information and access

Questionnaire responses and uploaded results are stored in Lovable Cloud, with access controls restricting practice access to Aleisha through her secure studio. They are not displayed publicly. General enquiries and booking reasons should not contain detailed medical information; use the health questionnaire for those details.

Services used by the practice

Lovable Cloud hosts the website and stores submitted records and files. Stripe processes card payments; this website does not store your full card number or card security code. Google Calendar receives appointment information, including your name, email, appointment type and any booking reason, to create the calendar event and, for online sessions, a Google Meet link. Your health questionnaire and blood test files are not included in calendar events.

These providers may process information outside New Zealand under their own privacy and security arrangements. Only information needed for their service is shared. Journal titles and excerpts may be used by an image-generation service to create article illustrations; this is separate from client health questionnaires.

Journal email subscriptions

If you subscribe to the journal, we store your email address, optional first name, sign-up date and whether you have confirmed. You are only added after you click the confirmation link we email you. We use these details only to email you when a new article is published. Emails are sent individually through Resend, so no other subscriber can see your address. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and once you unsubscribe you will not be emailed again. Only Aleisha can view the subscriber list.

Email, reviews and public content

The Contact form prepares a draft in your own email app. It does not save an enquiry on this website or send it automatically. If you send the draft, it is handled by your email provider and the practice’s email service.

Reviews are checked before publication. Once approved, your submitted review name, rating and comments may appear on the Reviews page and homepage. Do not include private health details or another person’s information in a review. Published journal articles are public; client forms are not.

Cookies and browser storage

The site uses browser storage and session information for secure studio sign-in and parts of the payment journey. Hosting and connected services may also process technical information required to deliver and protect the site.

Keeping and protecting records

We use access controls to protect personal information, but no online service can guarantee complete security. Records are kept for the purposes described above and to meet applicable New Zealand health-record, tax and legal requirements. Please contact Aleisha to ask about the retention of your particular record or request deletion; some records may need to be retained by law.

Your rights and concerns

You can ask to access your information, correct it, or discuss its use or removal by emailing hello@agutfeeling.org. Aleisha may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing a record.

A Gut Feeling’s handling of personal information is subject to the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020 where applicable. If you have a concern, please contact Aleisha first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
